It began as a wish and a prayer: to do some healing around the relationships between mothers and daughters and women in general. I started the painting on the solar eclipse of July 2nd to add some astrological juice to the intention I wrote on the canvas in black charcoal pencil. The dream:
I am in a pool of water. It’s gray and clouds are on the horizon. People are there, standing or sitting by the edge of the pool.All of a sudden an enormous wind picks up, strong enough to cause waves in the pool.I am helpless to move against it. The wind is so terrific it blows through my body rendering me utterly without control.

A year ago I made a commitment to just show up each morning and paint before anything else. Why did I do that? It was an act of surrender. Surrender to the realization that painting, more than anything else I did, moved my energy and gave me a sense of freedom and joy.
Painting teaches me that everything in the painting experience is a metaphor for life.
